For advice from LGfL regarding the use of the below settings & using YouTube alongside Google Workspace, please visit https://youtube.lgfl.net
LGfL schools are set to strict settings by default to ensure pupils are as safe as possible until a school decides according to their risk assessment to change their restriction settings.
Schools which find the strict settings too limiting can change to moderate settings. Please note: whilst many schools use this option, it can still generate undesirable or offensive results as these are based on a Google algorithm which we cannot detected.
An alternative is to use Google Workspace to override a block for a particular video or even apply a different settings to certain users (e.g. your DNS mode could be set to strict and your Google Workspace mode for logged in users in a Staff Organisational Unit could be set to moderate).
For details of using Google Workspace accounts for different YouTube settings, please see https://youtube.lgfl.net
To change your DNS mode settings, please open a support case to request one of the options listed below.
Please note: schools that have previously implemented conditional DNS forwarding rules and did so in order to use Google DNS just for YouTube -applying the new DNS settings will mean the conditional DNS forwarding is no longer required.
The DNS modes currently available to you will allow you to enforce one of the sets of conditions listed below.
Open: inappropriate / very high-risk
YouTube – ‘Open’, no settings enforced
Google SafeSearch – enabled
Bing SafeSearch – enabled
Moderate-restricted mode
YouTube Moderate Mode - enabled
Google SafeSearch – enabled
Bing SafeSearch – enabled
Severe-restricted mode: safest, recommended option
YouTube Restricted Mode – enabled
Google SafeSearch – enabled
Bing SafeSearch – enabled
Please note that users in your schools will automatically be sent into Google's and Bing's safe-search mode regardless of whether your filtering policies as DNS settings operate on a level which over-rules filtering settings.

Simply link the YouTube system bundle to the filtering policy you want to allow it for.
Alternatively, in order to enable access to YouTube and its video service in SchoolProtect, the following entries ONLY should be added to the list of allowed URLs and keywords in each relevant Policy:
youtube.com
youtube.co.uk
ytimg.com
googlevideo.com
Please note: that the third listed site contains the graphic and video resources used by the main site so setting just the first site in the "Allow" list will not be enough to access content.
Any other entries relating to either site should be removed. The entries given above are wild-carded and hence will be applied to any variants.
